Taylor High School boys varsity soccer got the job done at home Tuesday, Feb. 27 as Los Patos picked up a 2-1 victory over 4A-District 24 foe Giddings High School.
This was a complete team win for Los Patos as Taylor used solid goalkeeping from senior David Cazares and a collective defensive effort en route to another district triumph. Cazares made several clutch saves to keep Los Patos ahead throughout the match.
Los Patos got on the board early in the first half on a goal from senior Aiden Crane, while fellow senior Isaac Castro scored on a perfectly- placed free kick in the second half to put Taylor up 2-0. Although the visiting Buffaloes tallied a goal late in the second half, Los Patos were able to hold on for the win at home.
Taylor (9-7 overall, 7-2 district record), under Head Coach Greyson Wooten, was scheduled March 1 to host La Grange High School for senior night and will be on the road March 5 for a much-anticipated match against Manor New Tech High School. There is currently a three-way tie atop the standings with Taylor, rival Rockdale High School all New Tech all having a 7-2 record in district play heading into Friday night.
