HUTTO — “If you love where you live, you should love where you give” is a motto of non-profit organization I Live Here I Give Here, a company whose mission is to connect Central Texans with local causes they care about. They have hosted Amplify Austin Day for 12 years, and for the first time will hold a day of giving focused on Williamson County.

“The spirit of community engagement and philanthropy is a cherished value in the city of Hutto,” Mayor Mike Snyder read from a city proclamation affirming Amplify Wilco Day at the Feb. 15 Hutto City Council meeting.

“The biggest giving day in Central Texas has emerged as a powerful platform for local non-profits to connect with donors and amplify their impact in a community with a 24-hour online giving event.

There are people who have generously donated money to these organizations, but it will only come to Hutto if it is matched.”

Taylor also issued a proclamation supporting Amplify Wilco Days at the Taylor City Council meeting Feb. 22.

The statement signed by Mayor Brandt Rydell said in part, “The citizens of Taylor recognize the importance of supporting organizations that diligently address the diverse needs of our community, spanning education, health, the arts and the environment.”

The event starts March 6 at 6 p.m. and ends March 7 at 6 p.m. Two Hutto non-profit organizations, Simple Sparrow and The Sandbox at Madeline’s Place, will be featured among over 60 Williamson County organizations participating. Taylor Pride will also be one of the organizations available for donations.

Robynne Parkington, spokesperson for I Live Here I Give Here, said this is the first Amplify Wilco Day the organization has put on, though Hutto, Taylor and surrounding communities have been included in the annual Amplify Austin Day events.

“As Austin and all of our surrounding areas have grown, we realized there was a need to embrace even further outside of Austin, which is why we came up with Amplify Wilco Day,” she said. “We really want you to find non-profits you already know and love, and maybe discover a non-profit you never knew existed but is in line with things you already love about the place you live, and raise your families and have jobs and spend your time.”

I Live Here I Give Here has helped raise $128.8 Million for 1,411 local nonprofits since 2007, according to company data. The website for donations is amplifyatx.org/info/amplifywilco. Donations are taken year-round, but many of the matching funds are only available during the Amplify event.
