Taylor tennis hosts successful tourney

The Taylor High School tennis program held a varsity tournament Thursday, Feb.

22 as teams from across the area came to compete against the Ducks and Lady Ducks.

Taylor hosted players competing from Burnet High School, Marble Falls High School, Gatesville High School, Troy High School, Manor New Tech High School, Cameron C.H.

Yoe High School and others.

Standout performers for the Lady Ducks included defending 4A girls singles state champion Rylee Michna, who won first place in her A girls singles match. Also placing highly in the A group was the duo of Krista Randig and Abby Aplin, who won second in the girls doubles.

The sister duo of Maci Kennick and Molli Kennick was victorious in B girls doubles, while Julianna Gonzales placed first in B girls singles.

Taylor varsity tennis, under Head Coach Kevin Williams, will next compete Friday, March 1 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Waco Spring Regional Tennis Tournament.
