Lady Ducks throttle Killeen 20-3

The Taylor High School varsity softball team won its first home game of the 2024 season Tuesday, Feb. 20 as the Lady Ducks cruised to a dominant 20-3 victory over the Lady Kangaroos of Killeen High School.

It was an offensive outburst for the Lady Ducks as Taylor put up 11 runs in the first inning followed by nine more in the bottom of the second as the game ended via mercy rule after the top of the third frame was concluded. Anaih Arroyo helped lead the way in the Taylor blowout win as she had three hits, four runs batted in and scored three times.

Enicia Quintanilla added two hits and also had four RBI, while Kayleigh Page was 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs driven in and three runs scored.

Alayna Ortiz was in the circle for the Lady Ducks and she held Kileen’s offense in check with two strikeouts, only one walk and three runs allowed in 3.0 innings pitched. Ortiz had two hits at the plate and scored twice, while Kambri Oglesby also had two hits and scored three runs.

Taylor (4-3 overall record), under Head Coach McKensey Brentham, continued non-district play Feb.
