The Taylor High School girls varsity soccer team continued its strong play during 4A-District 24 play Tuesday, Feb. 20 as the Lady Patos won in penalty kicks over rival Rockdale High School in a crucial home district match.

The Lady Patos concluded regulation tied at 1-1 with the Lady Tigers after Taylor freshman Kaylie Chavez netted a goal.

In penalty kicks, Taylor won the shootout 3-1 and was led by some clutch play in the net by sophomore goalkeeper Tessa Kopecky as she saved a pair of shots by Rockdale. Taylor (11-6 overall, 6-1 district record), under Head Coach Jose Flores, has played strong team defense and has allowed just two regulation goals during those six district victories. The Lady Ducks were scheduled Feb. 23 for a road match at Smithville High School and will return home Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. hosting district frontrunner Giddings High School.
