The Taylor High School boys varsity basketball team announced players who were named to the 4A-District 22 all-district team.
First-team selections were senior Treos Richardson and junior Eli Lawrence who helped lead the Ducks back to the postseason for a second straight season under Head Coach Stephen Gibson. Richardson was a standout player for the Ducks who did it all on the court, while Lawrence continually
improved his game throughout the season to become a doubledouble threat.
“We didn’t get the results we were expecting but the guys improved in a lot of areas in the game of basketball,” Gibson said. “I have a good core group coming back next year. We’re already back in the gym working and getting ready to compete next year.”
Ducks junior T.J.
Whybrew was named the district Newcomer of the Year, while junior Kylon Harris was a second-team selection and also academic alldistrict.
“I’m very excited about next year because we will have a wealth of experience and guys who understand core values of our program,” Gibson said. “I think Eli, TJ, and Kylon will have a better understanding of what high-level competition means.”
All-district honorable mentions for Taylor were senior Antonio Torres, senior Alejandro Randle and freshman Landon Coulter while junior Harrison Tate was also an honorable mention and academic all-district selection for the Ducks.
Taylor finished the season with a 12-19 overall record (7-5 in district play) and was the No. 4 seed to represent 4A-District 22 in the bi-district playoffs.
