“You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
— Louise Hay
Last week, I wrote about peace and how it starts with us — literally. Some people don’t even have peace with themselves.
Let’s talk about selftalk and how it affects us.
Self-talk is the way you communicate with yourself. The messages you tell yourself can encourage and motivate you. They can also limit you and cause stress if they are negative.
Would you stay friends with a person who talked to you as you sometimes talk with yourself?
Many of us don’t realize how often we criticize ourselves and how much it affects our experience. Some people talk to themselves in a way that they would never talk to someone else.
Positive self-talk is a powerful tool. Positive self-talk is about speaking to yourself and treating yourself with kindness and compassion, just like you would treat someone you love.
It’s time we start being kinder to ourselves.
The world is hard enough. We don’t need to contribute by being hard on ourselves.
Always remember there is goodness everywhere and kindness matters.
