BRYAN — The Taylor High School boys varsity basketball team was defeated 113-57 by Houston Washington High School in the 4A bi-district playoffs Monday, Feb. 19 at neutral site Bryan High School. The Washington Eagles, last year’s runner- up in the 4A state championship game, are a top team in the Houston area across all classifications.
Despite the lopsided loss, the Ducks returned to the playoffs this season with its senior quartet of Treos Richardson, Antonio Torres, Alejandro Randle and Garrett Turner.
Taylor under Head Coach Stephen Gibson will return juniors Eli Laurence, T.J. Whybrew, Kylon Harris and Harrison Tate and also got contributions this season from sophomore Kadrien Deary and freshman Landon Coulter.
The Ducks finished the 2023-24 season with a 12-19 overall record and were the No. 4 seed out of 4A-District 22 with a 7-5 mark during district play.
