Fresh faces challenge incumbents in the May 4 local elections.

The deadline for a candidate to file has now come and gone. The Taylor Press has compiled a list of candidates who filed by press time.

The Taylor Independent School District board of trustees has seats expiring, held by Anita Volek and Marilyn Tennill.

According to information provided by Taylor ISD, Tennill and Todd Gratehouse will go for the “At-Large” seat. Volek will run for re-election for Place 2, despite previously saying she would not run for reelection.

Seats for the general election for Taylor City Council are District 2, currently held by Mitch Drummond, and District 3, currently held by Mayor Brandt Rydell. Rydell announced last month that he is not seeking re-election.

Drummond, Heather (Shelli) Cobb, Terry Burris and Sandra Wolff have filed for the District 2 seat so far. Kelly Cmerek and Nathan Walker are vying for the District 3 seat.
