PFLUGERVILLE — The Hutto High School boys varsity basketball team battled but came up just short Wednesday, Feb. 7 as the Hippos were defeated 48-40 on the road against district rival Pflugerville Weiss High School.
Despite a strong team defensive performance all night, the Hippos could not get the shots to fall consistently against the Wolves.
Hippos senior Zachary Hicks led the way with a team-high 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor, six rebounds and two steals. Hutto senior Dylan Patrick had nine points and three rebounds, while fellow senior Byron Piper added six points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in the loss to Weiss.
Hutto (15-15 overall, 6-5 district record) under Head Coach Gant Caraway is scheduled Feb.
9 to conclude its 6A-District 12 slate at Waco Midway High School.
