GRANGER — The Granger High School boys varsity basketball team battled all night Tuesday, Feb. 6 but the Lions came up just short with a 46-40 district loss at home to Holland High School.
The Lions held their own and were within striking distance the entire game against the Hornets but were unable to get the shots to fall consistently despite a valiant team defensive effort.
Notable performers for the Lions in the close loss to Holland were Granger senior Trae Herrera with 12 points on a trio of three-pointers and sophomore Kael Jackson also in double figures with 11 points, six rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
Granger (12-12 overall, 3-7 district record) under Head Coach Chaston Kubacak is scheduled Feb. 9 to host Hearne High School for senior night and will conclude 2A-District 27 play Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. on the road at Milano High School.
