SMITHVILLE — The Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team got the job done Tuesday, Feb.
6 against Smithville High School as the Lady Ducks were victorious 60-47 to cap off a dominant run in 4A-District 22 play.
Taylor was led on the night against the host Lady Tigers by yet another standout double- double performance from sophomore Madyson Mitchell, who had a game-high 25 points on 10-of-25 shooting from the floor, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Lady Ducks senior Ansley Reed also scored in double figures with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals while junior Sophia Fisher had seven points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.
In the win over Smithville, the Lady Ducks also got contributions from senior Asia Zachary with six points to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds, sophomore Aubriana Alderete with six points and freshman Tiana Candee with five points, eight rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals.
Taylor (20-7 overall, 12-0 district record) under Head Coach Lawrence Bailey will begin 4A postseason play Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. as the Lady Ducks square off with Houston Worthing High School in the bi-district playoffs at neutral site Bryan High School.
