A man who allegedly shot a loaded revolver was taken into custody Friday.
According to the Taylor Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of S. Main Street Friday, Feb. 9 at 8:20 a.m.
Officers arrested Jesus Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 25, who is charged with disorderly conduct-display firearm, a class B misdemeanor. The accused was found in possession of a loaded revolver.
“He admitted to firing a round,” Commander Joseph Branson said. “He didn’t tell us a lot more on top of that.”
Taylor PD said the initial caller said they saw someone wearing all black running out of an adjacent field towards the highway.
Once officers arrived, they made contact with Rodriguez-Gonzalez, who they say was compliant.
“He laid his weapon down and was placed under arrest,” Branson said.
Witnesses interviewed said another subject was seen dressed in camouflage that had “fallen to the ground after the initial shots were fired,” a Taylor PD statement said.
This second person was never located, despite heavy police in the area searching the surrounding fields.
Branson said there was no evidence of injury to another person or blood found at the scene.
He added that unless more evidence is found, the investigation is complete.
“As far as everything we’ve got right now, this is the end of it,” Branson said. “If we come across more information or something like that, of course we can look at more charges if they are applicable.”
Both the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Williamson County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office assisted in the search for the second subject to provide support.
The Department of Public Safety’s helicopter unit was requested, officials said, but services were unavailable due to visibility issues with the weather.
“Most of the police activity in the area was searching the fields,” Branson said. “This didn’t take place in a building or anything like that.”
Branson praised the person who called about the incident since they were cooperative and smart. He said residents who experience dangerous situations like this are encouraged to just call Taylor PD.
“Just call and report what you have seen,” Branson said. “Then wait for police arrival and further direction.
If convicted, Rodriguez-Gonzalez can face a charge up to 180 days in prison and a $2,000 fine.
