Lady Ducks sting Lady Hornetes

The Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team continued its 4A-District 22 dominance Friday, Feb. 2 as the Lady Ducks cruised to a 75-17 victory over Caldwell High School.

Prior to the game, Taylor honored its senior trio of Asia Zachary, Ansley Reed and Mia Duncan.

The Lady Ducks were in complete control all night as they led 30-0 after the first quarter, had a 45-2 lead at halftime and coasted against the Lady Hornets the rest of the way.

As it has been throughout district play, the team defense was locked in as Taylor had 22 steals and completely shut down the Caldwell offense.

The Lady Ducks’ offense was in sync and the Lady Hornets could not stop Taylor from scoring in the paint.

In a double-double effort, Zachary led all scorers with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the f loor, 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots. Lady Ducks sophomore Madyson Mitchell also continued her strong play with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Reed had a solid all-around game in double figures with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
