State of the City set for Feb. 26

Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell will give a “State of our City” address at the monthly Chamber luncheon on Monday, Feb. 26, at the Taylor Mansion and Crystal Ballroom, 2109 E. 4th St.

“We already have 50 people registered to attend this important event,” Board Chair Ebby Green said. “There is room for about 65 more, but people must register by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.”

Royal Events will provide the meal and Samsung Austin Semiconductor is sponsoring the program.

Attending the event costs $20 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members and should be paid in ad- ________________________ ____ 1519 N. Main St., on the website, www.taylorchamber. org, or over the phone, 512-352-6364. Reserva-tions are needed.

Rydell has served in the District 3 Council position since May 2012, and was chosen by the Council to serve as Mayor in 2017 and has served in that position since. Rydell has said he does not intend to run for a seat on the council as his term expires this year.

A Taylor native, Rydell graduated from Taylor High School in 1989. He earned degrees in English and history from the University of Arkansas and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He is assistant general counsel for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, known as ERCOT.

“Advance registration is needed to help the caterers know how many to prepare for,” Chamber President Tia Rae Stone said. “We have room for 120 people and hope this will be a close to capacity crowd.”
