The Taylor High School girls varsity soccer team won its second straight 4A-District 24 match Tuesday, Jan. 30 as the Lady Patos pulled off a thrilling 2-1 victory at home versus Smithville High School. The Lady Patos got on the board during the 32nd minute of the first half when freshman Analisa Arredondo scored to give Taylor a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
After the Lady Tigers scored the equalizer six minutes into the second half to make it 1-1, it was a back-andforth affair. However, Taylor broke free against Smithville with just two minutes left in regulation on a clutch goal scored by sophomore Peyton Wamble that would hold for a 2-1 victory.
In addition to the goals from Arredondo and Wamble, the Lady Patos got assists from senior Paige Patschke and freshman Kaitlin Crane to help take down the Lady Tigers.
Taylor (7-5 overall, 2-0 district record) under Head Coach Jose Flores is scheduled to travel Feb. 2 to take on district frontrunner Giddings High School and will return home Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. to host La Grange High School.
