Local TSTC gets new provost

HUTTO — Texas State Technical College’s East Williamson County campus has a new head academic administrator.

Kelly Coke will begin her tenure as provost Monday, Feb. 5.

“I look forward to meeting and serving the students, faculty, staff and community of TSTC’s East Williamson County campus and building strong partnerships with industry and community leaders,” Coke said.

Jonathan Hoekstra, TSTC’s chief operating officer, said the economic development opportunities and workforce needs in East Williamson County are rapidly growing.

“TSTC has bold plans to respond to these immense challenges,” Hoekstra said. “This includes our selection of Dr. Coke to represent us as provost. Her extensive experience and exemplary character uniquely qualify her to guide our campus and collaborate effectively with external stakeholders.”

Coke recently served as interim vice president of student access and success at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. She has also held positions at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas A&M University-Texarkana and regional offices for the U.S. Senate. She has also been a correspondence intern for former first lady Laura Bush.

Coke is a sixthgeneration Texan who grew up in Titus County. She has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural leadership and development from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in adult education with a focus on higher education and management from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and a doctorate in organizational leadership with a higher education specialization from Abilene Christian University.

Coke is a graduate of Leadership Texas Women, the Texas Education Policy Fellowship Program and Leadership Mount Pleasant/Titus County.
