TEMPLE — The Hutto High School girls varsity basketball team picked up another district victory Friday, Jan. 26 as the Lady Hippos went on the road and defeated Temple High School 42-33.

The Lady Hippos had a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, increased their lead to 21-14 at halftime and held a 28-23 advantage after the third period behind tight team defense. Although Temple was able to get within a 35-33 deficit in the fourth quarter, Hutto used a 9-0 run down the stretch to put the game away.

For the Lady Hippos, senior Charlize Williams was a major factor on the night as she had 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots against the Lady Wildcats.

Hutto (13-18 overall, 5-4 district record) under Head Coach Samantha Guerrero is now tied for the No. 3 seed in 6A-District 12 with Harker Heights High School. The Lady Hippos are scheduled Jan. 30 for a home game versus Copperas Cove High School and will hit the road Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. to take on Bryan High School.
