While taxpayers do not have to file their tax returns until April, help is coming to Taylor this weekend.
The Foundation Communities Prosper Centers will offer free tax preparation assistance at the Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance St, starting Feb. 3 through April 13.
The assistance sessions will last from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Saturday.
According to its website, the Prosper Centers’ mission is to build pathways to financial wellness, higher education and health coverage so that those who face barriers have opportunities to prosper.
The Prosper Center will be taking walk-ins only and no new clients will be allowed one hour before closing.
Residents looking to participate should bring a photo ID for them and their spouse, their social security card or ITIN letter for everyone on the tax return and tax documents such as W-2 or 1099.
According to a flier, participants have the option to bring their direct deposit information and it is recommended to bring a copy of the prior year tax return.
Services are available for individuals who make under $60,000 a year and families of two to four who make under $85,000 a year.
Income limits are higher for larger families.
