Coupland City Council passes nuisance ordinance

vehicles, rubbish, etc. I would like property owners and renters, as well, to read this ordinance and maintain their properties accordingly without city involvement.”

Schmidt added that all citizens are invited to attend council meetings on the third Tuesday of the month.

Coupland School Assistant Principal Kate Knapek announced, “

Earl Parcell was officially named the superintendent of Coupland Independent School District.

He comes to Coupland from Copperas Cove ISD where he served most recently as the Chief Financial Officer.

Parcell has served in various capacities, including teaching mathematics and serving in both campus and district administration.

“His campus experience includes assistant principal and principal, said Kate Knapek, assistant principal. “At the district level, he has served as a director of college readiness, instructional technology and Chief Financial Officer.”

“It is an absolute honor and privilege to serve the community, students, and staff of Coupland ISD,” Parcell said. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with the community in an effort to continue and expand upon great traditions while building and planning strategically for an even greater tomorrow.”

There were two vacancies on the school board. The board has appointed Karen Holgersen to fill one of the vacancies.

Susan Schmidt said, “Dr. Hogi has had quite a bit of experience as an educator both in the U.S. and abroad. The application process will resume very soon. If anyone is interested in filling the vacancy on the board until November, please refer to the school website for more information.”

Students taking the middle school art elective went on a field trip to Austin’s Laguna Gloria. Art teacher, Lauren Konarek and Silvia Delancey were the chaperones.

Happy birthday to Coupland sculptor

Happy 83rd birthday to Coupland’s internationally known sculptor Jim Huntington. Coupland is the home of Hunnington’s sculpture garden. He is known for his massive granite works, and he also has begun doing smaller pieces. His work is in permanent collections of art centers as well as many private collections. Individuals and school groups can tour his Sculpture Garden by appointment. For more information, call 512856-2334, jim@huntingtonsculpture.
