THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Taylor’s own Brayden Michna greatly represented Texas A&M University men’s tennis Jan. 13-15 as the Aggies freshman was named the Sherwood Intercollegiate tournament’s most valuable player.

“All in all, I thought we had a very solid tournament,” said Texas A&M Head Coach Steve Denton. “Congrats to Brayden Michna who was named MVP in the tournament after going 3-0 this weekend.”

On the first day of the singles competition, Michna beat Emon Van Loben Sels of UCLA 6-3, 6(3)-7(7) and 6-3 for his first match victory at the collegiate level. After Michna then defeated Jonathan Irwanto of the University of California, Berkley in straight sets 6-3 and 6-3, he then knocked off Samuel Rubell of USC 6-3, 5-7 and 11-9.

Michna also won his opening match of the doubles competition as he and his Texas A&M partner Grant Lothringer defeated Irwanto and Ethan Schiffman of Cal 6-2.
