PFLUGERVILLE — The Hutto High School girls varsity basketball team under Head Coach Samantha Guerrero meant business Friday, Jan.
12 as the Lady Hippos went on the road and put a 63-36 beatdown on 6A-District 12 rival Pflugerville Weiss High School.
The Lady Hippos got a balanced scoring attack from its trio of senior Charlize Williams, senior Alyssa Batton and sophomore Taylor Hicks all scoring in double figures for Hutto against Weiss. Williams led all scorers with a game-high 14 points, Batton added 12 points and Hicks had 11 points of her own in the win over the Lady Wolves.
It continues to be a very rough 2023-24 season for the Weiss Lady Wolves as this squad is still in search of its first victory with an 0-21 overall record.
The Lady Hippos (12-16 overall, 4-2 district record) will remain on the road Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. against the Pantherettes of Waco Midway High School. Hutto remains locked in third place in the district standings behind Bryan High School and Midway.
