Taylor powerlifting hosts meet

Taylor High School was the site of the Top Flight Taylor Duck Invitational varsity powerlifting meet Saturday, Jan.

13 as many talented athletes from across Texas competed in the squat, bench press and deadlift.

TAYLOR LADY DUCKS As a team, the Lady Ducks placed third behind 5A programs Elgin High School and Pflugerville Hendrickson High School in the standings and had two girls win gold and two silver medals.

Eliana Aleman placed first in the 132-pound class with 640 total pounds lifted, while Krista Randig won the 242pound class with 880.

Second-place finishers for the Taylor girls were Rylie Dlouhy in the 114-pound class with 760 total pounds lifted and Sophia Plonka in the 242-and-over class with 890.

TAYLOR DUCKS

As for the Ducks, the Taylor boys placed fifth out of nine schools entered and had athletes take home silver and one more with a bronze medal in their respective class.

Runner-up finishers for the Ducks were Antonio Estrada in the 123-pound class as he lifted 690 total pounds and Ernest Alderete placed second in the 275-pound class with 1,520 total pounds lifted.

Taylor had a bronze medal in the 198-pound class as Colbey Solias lifted 1,285 total pounds during the meet.

The Ducks and Lady Ducks will next compete Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by nearby Elgin High School.
