THRALL — Ashlyn Jarosek led four scorers in double figures, and the Thrall Tigerettes (13-12 overall, 5-0 District 27-2A) remained unbeaten in district play after a 64-27 win over the Hearne Lady Eagles (3-18, 1-4), Tuesday night.
Thrall got off to a slow start, struggling from the field, but still managed to build a 17-4 advantage through the first quarter.
Nevaeh Irvin, who finished the night with 14 points, scored half of her points in the opening eight minutes.
Jarosek, who led all scorers with 15 points, and CeCe Walker each scored four in the first quarter.
The Tigerettes went cold from the field in the second period, scoring just six points, and making just one of nine shots in the quarter. But, despite Thrall’s struggles, Hearne could only shave four points off the lead, and the Tigerettes led 23-14 at the half.
As the second half got underway, the Tigerettes finally started finding the range.
Thrall has benefitted from multiple scorers throughout the season, and the third quarter saw the Tigerettes use that balance to pull away from Hearne. Six different players put points on the board in the third quarter, led by Walker’s seven. Jarosek and Kinley Hoffman, who scored 10 on the night, each added four for the Tigerettes, and Thrall outscored the Lady Eagles 23-10 in the period, and took a 46-24 lead into the final period.
Thrall’s defense limited Hearne to three fourth-quarter points, while at the offensive end, Irvin and Anistin Proctor led the Tigerettes with four points each, leading the Tigerettes to an 18-3 scoring edge in the quarter.
Jarosek finished the night with a double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. She also picked up seven steals to pace the Tigerettes.
Irvin added eight rebounds and six steals to go with her 14 points, and Walker finished with 11 points.
Thrall was on the road Friday, taking on the coleading Milano Lady Eagles (13-11, 5-0). This matchup will mark the end of the first half of district play for both teams. The Tigerettes will be off on Tuesday and will travel to Thorndale on January 19.
