FORT WORTH — Williamson County was well represented Jan. 4-5 as Taylor High School, Thrall High School and Granger High School all competed in the UIL Spirit State Championships held at the Fort Worth Convention Center in their respective classes.
TAYLOR DUCKS
Taylor scored 43.35 on band chant, 57.85 on fight song and 70.75 on crowd leading in 4A-1. The Ducks under Head Coach Tracie Donahue were represented by captain Rylie Dlouhy, co-captain Allie Valdez, Cooper Mendoza as mascot Waddles, Jocelyn Adame, Avery Schroeder, Ursula Rydell, Elicia Martinez, Janie Hernandez, Shaimarie Warren, Amya Kemp, Mylei LaBorde, Makayla Acevedo, Ka’Mia Gadison, Izzy Streit, Cameira Douglas, Brianna Curtis, Ava Tobler, Ryley Robin, Tyller Ellis, Zakaya Frederick, Elysia Moales, Lacey Thompson, Kaylie Chavez and Kimberley Lopez. “We barely missed making the finals. We placed 24th in the prelims against I believe 53 teams,” Donahue said. “We were in the top 20 at the noon announcement and again at the 3 p.m. announcement but after the third round of teams went we were pushed out by four teams that advanced from round three. I am super proud of our team.”
THRALL TIGERS
Thrall scored 41.25 on band chant, 55.55 on fight song and 67.95 on crowd leading in 2A. The Tigers under Head Coach Rhonda Stallings were represented by Reagan Ballew, Adelynn Bishop, Bree Burlison, Averie Dart, Molly Fisher, Kaylie Hux, Miranda Iselt, Ashlie Kiel, Tyler James Kirchner, Avery Koonce, Andrea Ojeda, Miranda Rodriguez, Bailey Skrhak, and Bradie Suarez.
GRANGER LIONS
Granger scored 38.50 on band chant, 51.20 on fight song and 64.40 on crowd leading in 2A. The Lions under Head Coach Quinlan Kubacak were represented by KenLea DeMoss, Mireyah Luna, Destiny Cotten, Sofia Bernal, Eliana Flores, Cadence Carpenter, Victoria Castillo, Alexi Montagnino, Brooklyn Gaswint, Isabella Vanek, Carli Cadena, Peyton Petru, Marisa Garcia, Gabriela Garcia, Shelby Pekar, Kate Daugherty and Alexandria Lopez.
