HOLLAND — The Thrall Tigerettes (12- 12 overall, 4-0 District 27-2A) scored a seasonhigh 73 points Friday and rolled to a 73-33 win over the Holland Lady Hornets (7-9, 1-3). Holland had difficulty handling the Tigerettes’ pressure defense from the start. Thrall, pressing the Lady Hornets, forced 29 turnovers that resulted in 28 Tigerette points. Thrall’s speed was also too much for Holland as the Tigerettes scored 30 transition points. Ashlyn Jarosek, who finished with a gamehigh 23 points, got things started for Thrall with a pair of three-point jumpers, and eight total points, in the opening period. But, as has been the case throughout the season, Thrall was not one-dimensional at the offensive end of the court. Kinley Hoffman tallied six points in the first quarter, as well. Thrall took a 21-10 lead after one quarter of play. Thrall kept up the pressure in the second period, outscoring the Lady Hornets 23-5. Nevaeh Irvin scored 11 of her 16 points in the quarter to pace the Tigerettes. Hoffman and Jarosek added four points each, and the Tigerettes held a 44-15 halftime advantage. The Tigerettes slowed down some in the second half but still managed to outscore the Lady Hornets in both the third and fourth periods. Defensively, Thrall still kept Holland in check in the third quarter, holding the Lady Hornets to six points, while Jarosek hit two more treys and scored eight points in the third quarter. Holland managed 12 points over the final eight minutes of the game, but CeCe Walker scored five, and Hoffman added four, in the final quarter for the Tigerettes. In addition to Jarosek’s 23 points leading all scorers, Hoffman chipped in 17 and Irvin finished with 16 points. Irvin also pulled down 10 rebounds, and Hoffman grabbed seven boards. Avery Ochoa and Briana Jarosek added to the Tigerettes’ rebounding total with nine and eight, respectively. Thrall was back at home on Tuesday night when they hosted the Hearne Lady Eagles. Hearne (3-17, 1-3), a year removed from a 2A state semifinals finish, has struggled to get into the win column so far this season.
