HUTTO — The city of Hutto has hired Alberta Barrett as finance director. Barrett brings over three decades of local government finance experience to Hutto.
Throughout her career, she has excelled in the areas of cash management, investments, payroll and budgeting for equipment, capital projects and operations. She has vast experience developing and enhancing fund balance policies and increasing fund balances.
“We are excited to welcome Alberta to Team Hutto,” City Manager James Earp said. “Her 30 years of experience as finance director, qualifications and knowledge of city finance will benefit the entire city by ensuring we continue to demonstrate our strategic pillars of operational excellence, financial responsibility, and sustainable growth.”
As finance director, Barrett will be responsible for the fiscal health of the entire organization and will play a strategic role in the overall management of the city. She will oversee the planning, implementing, managing and control of all financial-related activities for the city, and will ensure that all aspects of the financial and accounting functions follow laws and regulations. Barrett most recently served as the finance director for the city of Del Rio, where she and her team earned budget and audit awards from the Government Finance Officers Association for several consecutive years. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in public administration.
She was officially introduced to the community during the Hutto City Council meeting Thursday, Jan. 4 at Hutto City Hall.
