Lady Patos victorious at Navasota tourney

NAVASOTA — The Taylor High School girls varsity soccer team under Head Coach Jose Flores opened its 2024 season Jan. 4-5 at the Navasota Tournament against Houston Scarborough High School, Navasota High School and Cameron C.H. Yoe High School.

Taylor’s season-opening match was a tough one for the Lady Patos as they came up short with a 3-1 loss to the Scarborough Lady Spartans. The Lady Patos’ first goal of the year came from junior Kaleigh Woods and was assisted by senior Briana Sariana.

TAYLOR LADY PATOS 4, C.H. LADY YOE 0

After a 3-0 loss Friday afternoon to the tournament host Navasota Lady Rattlers, Taylor got in the win column in a big way with a dominant 4-0 shutout victory over the C.H. Lady Yoe.

Woods led the Lady Patos as she had a hat trick with three goals scored, while freshman Analisa Arredondo also put one goal in the net. Taylor had assists on four goals from senior Paige Patschke, sophomore Peyton Wamble, sophomore Avery Paulsen and sophomore Tessa Kopecky.

Following a scheduled non-district match Jan. 9 at Lago Vista High School, the Lady Patos (1-2 overall record) will next compete Jan. 11-13 at the Burnet Tournament against Salado High School, Pflugerville Connally High School and Lampasas High School.
