The Taylor City Council will hold a public hearing and introduce two ordinances relating to a potential new subdivision across the street from Taylor High School during its regular meeting Thursday, Jan. 11.
The ordinances are related to an area of land referred to as the Davis Tract Phase II, approximately 99.99 acres of land located northwest of Backwood Pass.
The first ordinance that will be introduced involves a request to approve a New Neighborhood and Employment Plan for the land. The agenda packet said this plan is required in order for the property to develop and allows the subject property to consist of a more walkable community with varying lot sizes, mixed-use, mixed-retail, and civic spaces throughout the property.
The second ordinance relates to a request to approve a Voluntary Annexation of the land. This ordinance would add the property into Taylor’s city limits and allow the area to receive municipal services such as emergency services and public works services.
According to the agenda packet, city staff is in favor of the two ordinances because they are consistent with the Comprehensive Plan for a Regional Employment Center.
Davis Tract Phase II is planned to have 378 residential units, including 256 multifamily building units, 86 linear units, 32 mixed-use multi-family units and four livework residential units.
The location is also slated for 68,200 square feet of commercial use and 149,800 square feet of office use.
If introduced, the ordinances would be considered by the Council at the Jan. 25 meeting.
In other business, the Council will:
• Host a public hearing and introduce Ordinance 2024-04, PZ 2023 -1911 regarding requests to change place type zoning at 17 different lots.
• Host a public hearing and introduce Ordinance 202403, PZ-2023-1954, regarding a request to approve a Voluntary Annexation of approximately 49.913 acres of land generally located south of CR 395 and east of CR 101.
• Make a proclamation on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and consider a resolution approving the city investment policy and investment strategy.
