Local roads highlighted in county video

GEORGETOWN — Williamson County gave updates on Taylor roads in a recent video posted on social media.

A part of the county’s “On the Road” series, the video describes the current construction progress of different road projects in Southwest Taylor.

One road project highlighted is the work being done on Samsung Highway. It describes the road as a four-lane road just south of the Samsung Austin Semiconductor plant, which connects FM 3349 to FM 973.

Segment 1 opened Oct. 16, while Segment 2 is expected to be completed early this year.

Another highlighted project was the reconstruction and expansion of CR 401, which ties CR 401 to US 79. The project includes the creation of a traffic signal and construction was completed this past fall, the video said.

CR 404 and FM 973 were widened to be three lanes in another mentioned project.

Lastly, the video documents the East Wilco Highway projects.

The video said Segment 1 opened this past fall and created a new road, Segment 2 is anticipated to go under construction in the spring of 2024 and Segment 3 widens both FM 3349 and CR 101 to four lanes and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2025.
