Nancy Scott, of Granger, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
Nancy was born July 18, 1928, in San Antonio, to Ralph and Blanche Gardner.
Nancy was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1946, where she was the captain of the Lasso Drill Team and then attended Baylor University in Waco.
On June 25, 1948, she married the love of her life, John Scott Jr., at Travis Park Methodist Church in San Antonio. John and Nancy planted their roots in John’s hometown of Granger, and not long after they settled, she joined the First Baptist Church. From that union, two daughters were born, Sally and Susan.
She dedicated her life to raising her two daughters and supporting her husband’s farming legacy while managing the farm’s office. Over the decades, she was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Granger, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, playing the piano, singing in the choir and was also a member of the WMU (Women’s Missionary Union). She loved her little hometown church and was a member for 74 years.
She joined the Granger Tuesday Study Club in 1949, and served as president multiple times along with many other officer positions.
She was an accomplished seamstress and took pride in making formals and dresses for her daughters throughout their high school years. She enjoyed many road trips and adventures with John to Branson, Missouri, the Texas Gulf Coast to eat shrimp, and in their later years, assisted in supervising the farm production from the road sitting in their silver Kia Soul.
Above all, she treasured her family, her friends and the Lord.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John Scott Jr.; her parents, Ralph and Blanche Gardner; her sister, Lilian McCann; and her aunt, Lilian Hooper Gardner.
