Ducks fall at home to St. Andrew’s

The Taylor High School boys varsity basketball team had a non-district home game Friday, Dec. 15 as the Ducks fell at home 76-60 to Austin St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.

In a contest where the Ducks competed hard in the first half and maintained a lead into halftime, the visiting Highlands picked it up offensively in the second half to pull away for the win.

Taylor standout senior Treos Richardson, who entered the night as the Ducks’ leading scorer with 20.6 points per game, went off for a team-high 21 points on 9-of-22 shooting, four rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals.

Ducks junior guard T.J. Whybrew, who has emerged as the team’s second-leading scorer as of late, finished with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, five rebounds and three assists. Taylor sophomore guard Kadrien Deary added six points, while freshman Landon Coulter had five points of his own to go with four rebounds in the loss to St. Andrew’s Episcopal.

Following the 4A-District 22 home game Dec. 19 versus La Grange High School, the Ducks under Head Coach Stephen Gibson will be back Dec. 27 against non-district foe Austin Travis Early College High School and then be on the road Dec. 29 at Austin McCallum High School. Taylor will then resume district play Jan. 5 as the Ducks are scheduled to travel to take on the Buffaloes of Giddings High School.
