HUTTO — Texas State Technical College’s TSTC Foundation, the Hutto Education Foundation and the city of Hutto recently updated their scholarship agreement for the first time since 2019.
The three entities will continue contributing money to help Hutto residents pay for pursuing certificates of completion or associate degrees at TSTC’s East Williamson County campus. The TSTC Foundation matches contributions from the city and the Hutto Education Foundation.
“It enables students to stay local to get an education,” said Clarena Tobon, The TSTC Foundation’s senior field development officer at the East Williamson County campus.
Nontraditional students who graduated from Hutto High School are eligible for the city of Hutto and the TSTC Foundation’s portion of the scholarship, which is for the first two semesters of their education.
Hutto High School students graduating in 2024 are eligible to receive the Hutto Education Foundation and the TSTC Foundation’s portion of the scholarship for the third and fourth semesters.
Hutto High School students who graduate in 2024 and stay in good academic standing at TSTC are eligible to receive the scholarship for all four semesters.
Students applying to TSTC have the ability to apply for scholarships during the college application process. Students who indicate that they are Hutto High School graduates are eligible.
“We want to make sure we are reaching everyone who is eligible,” said Claudia Cardwell, director of the Hutto Education Foundation.
The scholarship was first made available to Hutto residents in fall 2019.
“It is just really exciting,” Cardwell said. “We love supporting technical trades. We love supporting students that choose this route.” For more information on TSTC, visit www.tstc. edu.
