Gladys Riske Doerfler was born Nov. 17, 1929, at home in Walburg. She passed away Feb. 27, 2022.
She was baptized Dec. 1, 1929, at Zion Lutheran Church at Walburg, confirmed at Zion April 17, 1943.
She married Herman Merkord Oct. 26, 1946, at Zion. Herman passed away in October 1955.
She and Herman had three children, Patricia, Allen and Randy. She then married Chris Doerfler and they had two sons, Mike Doerfler and Ronnie who passed away at six days.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, two brothers, both husbands, three sons, Ronnie and Mike Doerfler, and Allen Merkord and one daughter Patricia Teinert.
She is survived by Patricia’s husband, Ken Teinert; one son, Randy Merkord and wife Shirley and daughter-in-law, Judy Merkord, all of Georgetown; six grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren; Sheri Leonard and daughter, Abbie of Kyle; Susan and Mark Wilson and their children Andrew, Chris, and Molly of Taylor; Justin Merkord and wife Laina and their children Ryan and Ashton of Georgetown; Melissa Merkord and Bill of Weir; Spencer and Natalie Merkord and their sons John, Hudson and Nathan of Grapevine; Jacob Merkord of Austin; and a list of nephews, a niece, and many friends.
A visitation for Mrs. Doerfler will be held Monday, March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg followed by burial at St. Peter Cemetery in Walburg.
