The Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team opened 4A-District 22 play Tuesday, Dec. 12 at home and easily won 76-12 over Austin Achieve High School.

This was a game that the Lady Ducks had complete control over from start to finish over the visiting Lady Polar Bears. Taylor dominated with a 23-5 lead after the first quarter, a 40-7 advantage at halftime and then led 61-10 at the conclusion of the third quarter in a contest in which every player on the Lady Ducks varsity roster scored at least one basket.

Taylor had four players score in double figures against Achieve with senior Asia Zachary, junior Kionayh Rivers, sophomore Madyson Mitchell and freshman Tiana Candee.

Zachary had 14 points on a highly efficient 7-of-8 shots made from the field with four steals as well as three rebounds, while Mitchell had 14 points to go along with three assists.

Candee had her best scoring output of the season as she also had 14 points to go along with four rebounds, while Rivers had 10 points and three steals versus Achieve.

Now with a 7-7 overall record and a 1-0 mark in district play, the Lady Ducks are scheduled to play Friday night on the road at Manor New Tech High School. Taylor will then return home Dec. 19 at 6:15 p.m. for a pivotal game against La Grange High School in a battle between the predicted top two teams in the district.
