Lauren Ann DeCory, 77, passed away Dec. 6, 2023.
She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Taylor.
She was married to her best friend, Franklin J. DeCory for 59 great years.
She retired from the Harris Co. Library system in 2000. At that point they decided to move out of Houston and to move to a smaller town. They looked around Texas, and she liked Taylor the best so they bought a home here and moved here in 2007.
Her favorite song was “She and I,” by Alabama. She loved cooking all types of food. She enjoyed getting in the van and going camping with their young kids.
After they were grown up, she enjoyed going to different states. Lauren and Franklin visited 34 states. She always liked to stay at the casinos. She used to tell him to stay in the room, because he cost her money when he played. Lauren was very lucky.
When her eyesight started to fade and she could no longer drive to church or open highways, Lauren and Franklin stopped taking their road trips. She loved to drive. She could have been an 18-wheeler driver.
Lauren was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Roy Longie of Devils Lake, North Dakota; brothers, Raymond Longie, Ronnie Longie and Timmy Trottier; and stepfather Bill Trottier.
She is survived by one sister, Cynthia Faye Longie. She also has two children, daughter and son Michael Ann and David Bryan; and son’s friend Tracy.
In the future, Lauren and Franklin’s son will mix their ashes together and spread them in the woods, so “She and I” can fertilize trees and give birds and animals a place to live.
