HUTTO – The city of Hutto will revisit programming opportunities at a city-owned venue following recent news from its thirdparty event management group they reluctantly cancelled a concert set for this weekend Dec. 8-9 due to a headliner issue.
The city contracted with the vendor, The Directors of Chaos, earlier this year to begin developing and operating concerts at Brushy Creek Amphitheater in Hutto. The vendor made progress on some aspects of program development, including venue marketing, website redevelopment and initial facility improvements.
City staff looked forward to this weekend’s event being a launch pad for future programming, with preparations seeming on track the past several weeks and months.
Despite these efforts, a major headliner cancelled earlier this week for the Spirit of Orgain event. The vendor decided to cancel this two-day concert due to the ripple effect on all aspects of the event. The vendor is now contacting ticket holders that tickets will be refunded.
The city will assess this situation and the management contract. Hutto City Council had a work session planned for evening Dec. 7 about the venue. City leaders will discuss their future vision to effectively develop and prioritize this venue.
