THRALL — For the second time in as many games, the Thrall Tigers (2-0) got double-figure scoring from four players, and the Tigers rolled over the Rosebud-Lott Cougars 60-32 Tuesday.

The Cougars were able to stay with the Tigers through the first four minutes of the opening period. But, Dawson Meiske took control of the boards, and Steven Walker tallied eight points over the final four minutes of the period, and the Tigers took a 19-8 lead entering the second period of play.

Rosebud-Lott made a run at the Tigers to open the second period, cutting the Thrall lead to 19-14, but the remainder of the period belonged to the Tigers. Breken Proctor, who led all scorers with 17, scored 11 points in the period, while Ethan Dahl and Walker each added four to push the Tigers’ lead to 40-18 at the half.

Thrall relied on its defense in the second half to hold the lead. The Cougars managed just 14 second-half points, while the Tigers used a 6-of-8 shooting performance at the free-throw line. Meiske scored eight of his 14 points over the final two periods to secure the win.

In addition to Proctor’s 17-point effort, the Tigers secured 14 points from Meiske, who had his second double-double after pulling down 11 rebounds. Dahl finished the night with 13 points, and Walker totaled 12. After two games, Proctor is averaging 18 points per game, and Meiske is scoring 17.5 points per outing. Dahl and Walker are averaging 12 and 11.5 respectively.

“I thought that we won the game with our defense and rebounding with Walker, Dahl, Meiske and Gillmore,” said Thrall Head Coach Charles Tindol. “Our second bunch is getting better but we didn’t shoot the ball very well so it’s a good thing we played defense and hit the boards. A really fun group to coach.”

The Tigers will be on the road Tuesday when they travel to Burton to face the Panthers. They will play in the Florence tournament beginning next Thursday.
