15th annual Live Nativity set for Dec. 8-10

The community is invited to walk through Bethlehem and experience the miracle of Christmas, as Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a live nativity, Pilgrimage to Bethlehem, Friday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 10 at 411 County Road 401.

As they have for more than a dozen years, hundreds of area visitors flocked to the church for “The Pilgrimage to Bethlehem: A Live Nativity” to be immersed in a spectacular, free production of the story of the first Christmas, featuring about 140 actors from 20 area churches wearing authentic first-century period costumes, as well as elaborate indoor and outdoor sets.

As visitors come into the church, they will hear a choir that sings Christmas carols.

The audience can join in because they are common carols. Guides take groups on a narrated tour through the story.

Guests can expect cast interaction through Nazareth, where Mary and Joseph live, and are visited by the angel Gabriel. The tour then heads to the marketplace, where Mary and Joseph look for an inn for the night.

The story continues to the outside where Jesus is in the manger and you see shepherds, angels, and witness a visit from the three wisemen. For more information, contact the church 512-3659494.
