HUTTO — The Hutto High School varsity volleyball team had several players take home honors for 6A-District 12 this week following a 2023 season where the Lady Hippos made it to the playoffs under firstyear Head Coach Jessica Martinez.
The highest of honors for this Lady Hippos squad was the duo of senior Charlize Williams and junior Isabella Orton, who were both selected as first-team all-district for a Hutto team that made it back to the postseason for a second straight season.
Hutto senior Hailey Bartley and junior Macie Atkinson were named second-team all-district selections, while the senior trio of Cori Babb, Brittany Haberer and Carolina Vogelpohl were named all-district honorable mentions.
Named as academic all-district were Williams, Orton, Bartley, Atkinson, Haberer, Vogelpohl, senior Jada Selvera, senior Andreani Garcia, sophomore Kyah Cleveland and sophomore Victoria Escobedo.
The Lady Hippos finished a solid 2023 season under Martinez with a 21-21 overall record and made the postseason out of a very tough district with Midway High School, Pflugerville Weiss High School and Copperas Cove High School. Hutto is expected to again return with a varsity talented squad in 2024 to make a playoff run and plenty of younger players from the sub-varsity teams should be able to immediately make an impact.
