AUSTIN — Samsung Austin Semiconductor held its Veterans Day Military Appreciation Event Friday, Nov. 10.
The semiconductor, which is a local subsidiary of South Korean-based Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, additionally received the HIRE Vets Medallion Award. To qualify for the award, a company of that size must hire 7% of vets as new hires and have a veteran employee resource group.
“As an Army veteran who has been with this company for nearly 27 years, I can truly attest to the long-term career and growth that I’ve had here,” said Jon Taylor, corporate vice president of Fab Engineering and Public Affairs. “I also know the skillsets that we all develop in the military — ability to problem solve, advanced technical training and teamwork — allows us to excel in the workplace. Samsung is proud to be recognized as a HIRE Vets Medallion Award recipient.”
The celebration event was at the semiconductor’s Austin location.
Manor New Tech High School’s Titan Special Operations Group presented the colors during the ceremony.
Additionally, veterans were recognized and presented dog tags that were specific to a branch of military.
“Established in 2018, the Military Appreciation Group was Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s second ERG,” said Mike Atencio, chair of Military Appreciation Group at Samsung Austin Semiconductor. “While I’m partial to the Marines, MAG supports all branches of the military. From celebrating service branch birthdays to volunteering as a group, we encourage veterans and other employees to join MAG as a way to connect with other employees.”
