HUTTO — The Hutto High School varsity football team is set to face one of the toughest tasks throughout the entire state Friday, Nov.
10 at 7 p.m. as the Hippos travel to take on defending 6A-1 state champion Duncanville High School at Panther Stadium. Prior to Duncanville’s loss Oct. 28 to DeSoto High School, the Panthers were regarded as arguably the best team in the entire nation.
Hutto will be led into action with its star offensive senior duo of quarterback Will Hammond and wide receiver Alex Green.
Hammond, a Texas Tech University commit, has thrown for 3,701 yards on 232-of-374 attempts, 34 passing touchdowns, 1,068 rushing yards and 19 scores on the ground. Green has also been sensational for the Hippos on offense with 97 catches for 1,976 yards and 19 receiving touchdowns in 10 games.
The defense has been a glaring issue for Hutto all season as the Hippos have given up an average 47.1 points through 10 games and go up against a Panthers offense Friday that has put up47.1 points a game through nine contests and has not scored lower than 34 points all season.
If Hutto is going to have any chance of staying in this game against a team that has a very good chance of repeating as 6A-1 champions, the Hippos are going to need to play a nearly flawless game on offense and be able to force multiple turnovers on defense.
