People might see quite a few people running in Taylor throughout the morning next Saturday, and there’s still time to join them.

The ninth annual Taylor Garden Run for the Roses 5K/10K will be Jan. 15 at 8 a.m., rain or shine and through any temperature. There will also be a 1K fun run and sleepwalker race.

The event benefits the Taylor Garden Club. Taylor Garden Club provides scholarships for youths who are pursuing careers in ecology, horticulture, landscaping, arbor and forestry studies and other career fields relating to growing things. The group works closely with Taylor municipal government and the parks system to assist with planned tree and garden plantings and maintenance.

Entry fees for racers ages 18 years and younger are $15 for the 5K and $20 for the 10K. Costs for people ages 19 and older are $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K.

Races start and finish at the Murphy Park pavilion. The 5K and 10K are chip timed.

The 1K will not begin until all 5K and 10K participants have returned to the finish line. All participants ages 10 and younger receive a finisher token.

Online registration will close Tuesday, Jan. 11, four days before race day. Walk-up registration is available during packet pickup times either the night before the race at a location to be determined or one hour before the race near the start-finish line. Packets may be picked up by another person.

Registration closes 15 minutes before the race begins.

Cash, checks or Venmo will be accepted. There are no refunds, but a racer can transfer their registration to another person. All registration changes must be handled on race morning with the timing company.

Packets to be shipped will be shipped following the close of the race. All packets not retrieved by the end of race morning will be donated to Hays Clothing Closet.
