“We got to use some different line-up combinations Tuesday,” said Thrall Coach Bethany Grissom. “This should help us when we get into the playoffs. I thought overall, we played pretty good volleyball.”
Thrall got off to a slow start, leading by just two in the opening set. But, once the Tigerettes settled into their offensive groove, the Lassies couldn’t keep pace. A side-out pushed the score to 7-3 and gave Dezi Lopez the serve for the Tigerettes. When she finally relinquished the serve, Lopez had served 11 straight points, including a pair of aces, and Thrall led 18-4. Amber Kevil and Brynn Leschber dominated the Lassies at the net in the run.
Bartlett managed four points over the closing moments of the first set, but they could not substantially cut into the Tigerette lead.
Bartlett kept the second set close, early on. The Lassies trailed just 9-5, but multiple Lassie miscues, allowed the Tigerettes to take advantage and push their lead to 18-8. Kayla Moellenberg picked up a trio of kills in the run, and Karly Pesantes’ aces gave the Tigerettes a twogames- to-none lead.
A pair of runs in the final set allowed the Tigerettes to finish off the sweep. Melaina Grissom, Leschber, Brenna Tucek, and Moellenberg provided a solid offensive performance in the third set, allowing the Tigerettes to win.
“I thought we played pretty well,” Coach Grissom said. “We definitely cut down on our service errors from the Thorndale game. But, there are always areas we need to work on before our next match.”
