County primary elections are in March. However, local elections could shape up with new faces in May.
The city of Taylor will hold a general election for city and school officials May 7.
At the city, terms set to expire in May are District 1 and District 4. Currently, the District 1 seat is held by Mayor Pro Tem Gerald Anderson, and the District 4 seat belongs to Robert Garcia.
The filing period to submit an application for a place on the ballot for either of these seats is Jan. 19 through Feb. 18. Residents may contact the city clerk’s office for a candidate packet, or visit the city’s website at www.taylortx.gov/251/City- Elections.
For the school board, three seats are set to expire in May. Place 3, held by Cheryl Carter, Place 4, held by Board President Marco Ortiz, and Place 5, held by Board Secretary Thomas Rohlack, are all up for election in May.
For more information about the school board election or to get an application, contact the Administration office at 512-365-1391.
