Lady Ducks batter Manor New Tech

Another day, another easy match victory for the Taylor High School varsity volleyball team. The Lady Ducks hosted Manor New Tech High School on Oct. 6 and cruised to a 4A-District 22 victory in three straight sets at home over the Lady Titans: 25-7, 25-11, and another dominant 25-7 performance in the third set to seal the deal.

It was business as usual against a far less talented New Tech team as Taylor was in complete control from the start of this match. The opposing Lady Titans had no answer for Taylor junior Haley Harms at the net as she continued her outstanding junior season with a match-high 13 kills and five serves received. Senior Ansley Reed added six kills, while senior Hannah Wamble and sophomore Elena Martinez had five kills of their own.

Wamble and Reed also served up six aces apiece in the landslide victory over New Tech on Friday.

Lady Ducks senior Camryn Nunamaker continues to be a standout defensive player who is excellent at setting up her teammates she had a match-high 18 assists to go along with nine digs, while sophomore Makenna Watson is all over the court and had 12 digs.

Under Taylor first-year head coach Rylee Davis, the Lady Ducks continued to play outstanding volleyball and headed into their Tuesday match at La Grange High School with a 25-12 overall record and a 7-1 mark in district play. Their one loss was on the road last month at Giddings High School in a five-set thriller but the Lady Ducks will look to get revenge at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 as Taylor hosts the Lady Buffaloes for a pivotal match.
