Jarosek announces commitment to ETBU

THRALL — Huge news came out of the Thrall High School girls varsity basketball program last week as senior standout Ashlyn Jarosek announced her commitment to continue her outstanding career as a future studentathlete for the women’s basketball program at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

“I’m so happy and blessed to announce my commitment to ETBU,” Jarosek said on X last week. “Thanks to my family, friends and coaches who have all supported me with endless amounts of love!

No words can explain how excited I am for this opportunity!”

Jarosek, a stellar multisport athlete for the Tigerettes in both basketball as well as an all-state softball player, will take her talents to ETBU after she is done with her Thrall career. A star guard with the Tigerettes, Jarosek played American Athletic Union competition for the Phoenix Select Basketball based out of the Austin area for fourth through 12th graders. She has also been very active in fall league games for Thrall as the Tigerettes are competing against as high as 6A schools and even beating them in scrimmages.

Jarosek will be future teammates with Taylor High School standout senior player Ansley Reed, who also announced her commitment to play women’s basketball at ETBU back in August.

Thrall will open up its 2023-24 girls basketball season at 11 a.m. on Oct.

30 as the Tigerettes will host Killeen Chaparral High School for a scrimmage.

After the Tigerettes open the 2023-24 regular season on the road at 6:30 p.m. on Nov.

10 at Franklin High School, a matchup between Thrall and Taylor will be next month as Jarosek and the Tigerettes will square off with Reed and the Lady Ducks at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 in Taylor.
