Frank William Urbis III

DUCKS FLY, LIONS ROAR

Frank William Urbis III

Frank William Urbis III, 78, of Georgetown, (formerly of Taylor), passed away Sept. 6, 2023. He was born, baptized and a member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Frank was born Oct.

28, 1944, in Taylor, to Frank William Urbis, Jr. and Dororthy Glenn Condor (Urbis). He grew up with two younger brothers, Lawrence and Mark, and lived next door to their grandparents, Frank and Mary Urbis Sr.

Frankie cherished his grandmother (Gran Mary) and learned a lot from her, including how to cook. He also worked summers at his grandfather’s gin. Frank has always been a kind, generous, loving person. Being the oldest of his siblings, he naturally took on a lead role protecting his family. Frank attended St.

Mary’s Catholic School, Taylor High and Nixon-Clay Business College in Austin. He then went on to work at American Desk. His mother remarried Fred Switzer Jr. in 1966, expanding the family to include three more siblings Skeet, David and Dorie Bennett. The family enjoyed celebrating Christmas and making lots of memories on Seventh Street, and later Bull Run.

In 1966, he married Helen Volek Urbis and became the father to their daughter, Nicole Urbis Scott, who he loved and was proud of. He would do anything for her including helping her with school projects and remodeling homes.

Frank remarried Patricia (Tricia) Urbis, expanding his family, and lived the last 30 years in Georgetown.

They enjoyed building a beautiful home, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Hopefully, you were able to have some of his barbecue and spend time drinking an icecold one in Walberg or listening to Pink Floyd.

They took annual trips to the coast with his daughter and family, Jackie and Art Garcia, and grandchildren Jacob and Morgan.

Frankie was a man of all trades. If you knew Frankie, you couldn’t help but appreciate his positive reassuring nature. He had a way to make people feel loved and supported.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Nicole Scott and husband David; grandson, Jude of Lakeway and wife Tricia Urbis; daughter, Jackie Garcia and husband Art; grandchildren, Morgan Garcia, Jacob and Brooke Balusek; and his great grandchildren, Tristan and Grayson of Georgetown. He was very proud and loved them all.

His family invites you to celebrate his life from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 14, at 5th & Vance Events, 301 W.

Fifth St. in Taylor. Lunch will be provided.

The family would like to request memorials be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. https://www.ramseyfuneral. com/obituary/ frank-urbis
