County hosts first nights of rodeo, more

Bits of rain could not damper the arrival of the 2023 Williamson County Fair and Rodeo.

Held at the Williamson County Expo Center, 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor, the fair and rodeo began Wednesday, Oct. 25 and Thursday, Oct. 26 with plenty to enjoy.

Wednesday was Samsung Family Free Night, where attendees received free admission. One highlight of the evening was the event’s first ever junior rodeo.

It started with a stick horse parade in the main arena at 6 p.m., which involved children 3 to 5 years old moving on decorated toy horses, followed by rodeo events featuring younger athletes.

Thursday was Central Texas Community Foundation Veterans Night, with veterans receiving free admission. Highlights included a celebrity calf scramble and a performance by the Flying Disc Dogs of Texas.

The fair lasts until Saturday, Oct. 28. Attractions that occur each night include live music, a carnival and pig races.
