Taylor is expected to stay above freezing into late next week, but winter may have finally kicked temperatures in the 80s to the curb.

The Taylor Texas Weather Network forecasts high temperatures to fluctuate between the upper 50s and lower 70s for the next several days. Monday night, Jan. 10, will get close to freezing with a low of 35 degrees.

“A cold front arrives during Sunday (Jan. 9), bringing breezy north winds along with cooler air into early next week,” said the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio Office.

Highs will drop from 71 degrees Sunday to 59 degrees Monday. Temperatures Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 11-13, will inch up through the low 60s.

Nights will begin with a low of 43 degrees Sunday before dipping to the mid 30s Monday night. Tuesday night is expected to be in the lower 40s, followed by the lower 50s Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Taylor’s switch to jacket weather follows its most recently recorded high of 80 degrees on the last day of 2021, Dec. 31. Two days later, a cold front brought the high down to 46 degrees and a low of 22 degrees.

In 2022’s seven days thus far, there have been four nights that reached freezing temperatures. Three of those nights have been in the lower 20s.

Monday marks the one-year anniversary of a record-breaking snowfall in Taylor. Approximately three inches of snow came down on Taylor on Jan. 10, 2021. However, records shattered again a month later when seven inches fell Feb 14-15.
